1912-Apr-17: Homestead Entry Application for SW-31-23-27-W3, 8 km northeast of Estuary, SK, 17.5 km east-northeast of Empress, AB. His brother Robert Colin MacKenzie, and his father James MacKenzie also applied for entry to homesteads the same day near his. All three would eventually be "proved-up" and granted land patents.

Born in Tipperary, Ireland, he came to Manitoba in 1910, then farmed in the Empress District from 1912 until retiring in 1952. Mr. Mackenzie was a member of the Empress United Church; Past Master and Member of Empress Lodge No. 152, A.F. and A.M.; Empress Chapter No. 135; Crusade Preceptory No. 54, Medicine Hat and the Al Azhar Shrine, Calgary. Surviving are three sisters and two brothers. Services at the Empress United Churgh Friday at 2 pm Reb. Harvey K. Murphy officiated. Interment, Family Plot, Empress Cemetery.
